The Zen Vouga farm (Quinta do Fundo de Vila) has a little more than one hectare and is in a most tranquil and idyllic location. It was first setup in 1744.

What makes Zen Vouga most unique is the fact that it is in a very isolated, rural setting, yet has the comforts that one is used to in developed countries. The covered and heated swimming pool together with all the green of the mountains and valley make this a special place where you can unwind and enjoy a Zen lifestyle.

It spreads along the south face of the Vouga valley and is made-up of old olive oil and wine presses, wine cellar, maize crib, swimming pool and 4 (four) houses, three of which are available for guests. The houses are preferably leased all together and for families. The oldest houses have been built with the region’s granite and wood, in the walls and ceilings.

The older facilities have been built in granite and were recently rehabilitated, as well as the whole farm is being fully renovated in 2018, yet no work will take place when guests are onsite. The granite and oak wood of the region are the predominant raw materials used in the older walls and ceilings.

You may enjoy the tranquillity of life in the village, as well as to cook from the wooden oven, and two barbecues are also available for use (one in the swimming pool area).

All houses are fully equipped and have modern facilities. There is no TV, yet good wireless connection.

The guests may also enjoy a pleasant and covered swimming pool with a copper and zinc ionization system, having less chlorine than tap water, and a jaccuzzi.

The farm is in a typical northern Portuguese village, calm and with few inhabitants, where traditional subsistence agriculture still abounds. The neighbours are friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of beautiful walks and secluded spots nearby. All this is in a comfortable setting, in direct contact with nature.

You may enjoy the wood-fired oven, or listening to the birds and the bees, or to the screech of the beautiful snowy owl in the evenings, as well as the cracklings of the frogs and the crickets. Enough to relax from a long, winding road to get here.

Company animals are welcome, by prior agreement with the proprietor of the farm.
